Accused, who hacked his partner to death in capital city, commits suicide in jail

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An accused, who hacked to death his partner of 12 years, was found hanging in the jail. The accused identified as Rajesh (46) committed suicide in the Poojapura central jail. Rajesh hacked his partner Sindhu of Nanniyode to death on the busy road near the Vazhayila Petrol Pump at Peroorkada in the capital city last Thursday.

Rajesh was found hanging in the toilet. A serious lapse has occurred from the side of the authorities. The body is kept at the General Hospital.

He hacked Sindhu, a home nurse, when she was on her way to her workplace. He hacked her using a machete he had in his hand. His first strike was on her neck and then on her head. When she cried loudly, he continued hacking her. When he tried to flee from the place after hacking her, the locals caught and handed him over to the police.

Sindhu, who was estranged from her husband, was living with Rajesh, who had his own family. Sindhu left his partner of 12 years, after her daughter got married. There was a financial dispute between the two. In the meantime, Sindhu shifted to her sister’s house. Rajesh got acquainted with Sindhu when his mother was working at the Veterinary Biological Institute in Palode.
