NEW DELHI: The state submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court seeking no relaxation of bail conditions to Rehana Fathima in the ongoing case related to the verdict on women's entry in Sabarimala. Counsel Harshad V Hameed filed the affidavit for the state.
The conditions of the court were violated several times. The affidavit submitted in the court said posts hurting religious sentiments were circulated on social media and so her plea should be rejected.
Rehana Fatima filed a plea demanding that the conditions of the bail granted by the high court be eased in the case registered by Pathanamthitta police for visiting Sabarimala soon after the verdict on women’s entry. The affidavit is against this.
Rehana had earlier gained notoriety through many controversies. Rehana turned a controversial heroine after she made her minor children paint on her naked body and then circulating it through social media and then visiting Sabarimala following the Supreme Court's verdict allowing women to enter. In a cookery show video uploaded on social media, Fathima had referred to the dish being cooked as ‘Gomatha Ularth’. A case was registered against her after Rajeesh Ramachandran, a lawyer of Ernakulam, filed a complaint against her at the Ernakulam South Police Station asserting that she presented the cooking programme to create a communal tension.
BSNL had terminated Rehana from service citing that the Sabarimala controversy had affected the company's reputation.
