KOTTAYAM: P C George, chairman of Janapaksham is planning to contest in Pathanamthitta constituency in the next Lok Sabha polls with the support of NDA.
George personally has influence in Pathanamthitta which includes Poonjar and Kanjirapally assembly constituencies. George believes that if he secures BJP's support along with his intimacy with the Christian Church, he can win even if there is a strong triangular competition.
The Pathanamthitta Lok Sabha constituency includes Thiruvalla, Ranni, Aranmula, Konni and Adoor constituencies apart from Poonjar and Kanjirapally constituencies. K Surendran got 2,97,396 votes (28.97 percent) in the last election. UDF candidate Anto Antony, who won got 37.11 percent and the Left Front candidate Veena George got 32.80 percent. George's effort is based on the candidate who can mobilize the Christian votes. In Pathanamthitta, where anti-government issues such as buffer zone, K Rail and Sabarimala are being discussed a lot, George will get the support of the Catholic Church, which will help the NDA.
