400 flats for rehabilitation of fishermen in Vizhinjam; Finance Department sanctions Rs 81 crores

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Finance Department has sanctioned Rs 81 crore for the construction of 400 flats for the rehabilitation of fishermen in Vizhinjam. It was Finance Minister KN Balagopal who informed this. Flats for fishermen are being built in Muttathara village.

Flat construction is included in the Punargeham project led by the Fisheries Department. 284 fishermen are the beneficiaries of the project. This was one of the main demands of the Vizhinjam anti-port strike committee.
