THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Viral fever has gripped Kerala in the midst of Covid scare. Patients are suffering from persistent coughs, tiredness and breathing problems. This month alone 2,18,718 people took medical treatment from hospitals for fever. This year 32.22 lakhs were affected by fever, out of which 15 persons died.

Flu, which spreads through air, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus causing infection in lungs are widespread in the state. These together with Covid causing lung infection is called tripledemic. As it is winter season, many children are getting infected.

Those whose lungs are not capable to withstand even small infection after getting Covid are those who are now suffering the most when affected by fever. Those whose lungs have minor problems will get cough during fever and it will last for three months. Those who are arriving in hospitals with tiredness and body pain are given antibiotics and returned.

Doctors say that majority of the patients are reluctant to get Covid tested.
