Investigation against Saji Cheriyan overturned with the knowledge of CM, CPI(M) challenging the rule of law; says opposition leader VD Satheesan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader, VD Satheesan said that the decision of CPI(M) to take back Saji Cheriyan into the Cabinet is challenging the public society and also a mockery of the people. The situation in which Saji Cheriyan had to resign has still not changed.

VD Satheesan said that the police have not examined the video of Saji Cheriyan’s speech in which he insults the Constitution. He accused the police of conducting a farce investigation.

The opposition leader added that the investigation was overthrown with the knowledge of the Chief Minister to reinstate Saji Cheriyan as Minister.

The court has also not taken a final decision on the report given by the police. Reinstating Saji Cheriyan as Minister, when the matter is still pending in the court, is a challenge to the rule of law.

One the one side CPI(M) speaks in support of the Constitution and on the other side, the party appoints a person, who publicly insulted the Constitution, as a Minister. This shows the double standards of CPI(M), said VD Satheesan.

Satheesan said that Saji Cheriyan said things that were similar to what is written in RSS leader Golwalkar’s book ‘Bunch of Thoughts’. Even after losing his Minister post, he has still not withdrawn his statements that insult the Constitution and the criticisms against the makers of the Constitution including BR Ambedkar.

He also asked what message is CPI(M) giving by making a person, who insulted the constitution, the Minister. What morality is there in this decision, asked Satheesan.
