Dilip Mahalanabis, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Zakir Hussain and SM Krishna to be awarded Padma Vibhushan, Vani Jayaram to receive Padma Bhushan; four Malayalis to receive Padma Shri

NEW DELHI: The central government has announced the Padma awards for 2023. Dilip Mahalanabis, who pioneered the wide wide Oral Rehydration Solution(ORS), former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and noted architect Balkrishna Doshi have been named for Padma Vibhushan posthumously. Other Padma Vibhushan awardees are former External Affairs Minister and former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna (Public Affairs), tabla maestro Zakir Hussain (Art) and Srinivas Vardhan (Science and Engineering).

Paddy conservationist Cheruvayal Raman, Gandhian VP Appukuttan Poduval, CI Isaac and SRD Prasad are the Malayalis who will receive the Padma Shri awards.

Renowned playback singer Vani Jayaram has been honoured with the Padma Bhushan award. The 9 Padma Bhushan awardees include social activist and writer Sudha Murty and businessman Kumar Mangalam Birla.
