Tanur boat accident: Court rejects bail plea of ​​seven accused

MANJERI: The Manjeri District Sessions Court has rejected the bail plea of ​​seven accused in the incident in which 22 people died after a boat overturned while carrying tourists illegally in the river at Thuvaltheeram in Ottumpuram in Tanur. Judge S Muralikrishna rejected the bail pleas of sixth accused boat manager Anil, seventh accused Shyam Kumar who issued boat tickets, eighth accused Bilal, ninth accused Savad, tenth accused Muhammad Rinshad, 11th accused Sebastian Joseph who was chief surveyor of Alappuzha and 12th accused Prasad who was port conservator. The accident happened on May 7. The cause of the accident was that 52 people boarded the boat, which could accommodate only 24 people. Boat owner Nassar is the first accused in the case.
