US: Joe Biden pulls out of presidential race

WASHINGTON DC: US President Joe Biden has pulled out of the 2024 presidential race. Biden announced his decision to withdraw from the election through a note shared on social media. The move follows pressure on him by many sections of the party seeking that he withdraw on health grounds, in the wake of his dismal performance in the first debate with former President Donald Trump.

In the note shared on social media, Biden stated that he decided to pull out of the presidential race in the best interest of his party and the country. Biden's announcement comes just four months ahead of the presidential elections in the US. He is currently in isolation due to Covid. There were already indications that Biden might withdraw from the presidential race following his poor performance in the debate with Republican opponent Donald Trump.

Biden has suggested that Vice President Kamala Harris should be made the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Sunday that he thinks Kamala Harris will be easier to defeat in November's election than Democratic President Joe Biden.
