WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump has clarified that the decision to attack Qatar was not his. Trump also wrote on social media Truth Social that it was the decision of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A report had earlier emerged that the attack was with Trump's knowledge. Trump came with a clarification on the matter after this.
‘The US military has informed the Trump administration that Israel is attacking Hamas. Unfortunately, the attack was in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The decision to carry out this attack was Netanyahu's, not mine. Bombing inside Qatar, a close US ally, will not advance the goals of Israel or the US,' Trump wrote.
An unexpected Israeli airstrike was carried out on the Hamas headquarters in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Six people were killed. The building where the top leaders of Hamas were meeting collapsed. The attack targeted senior figures including Khalil Hayya, one of Hamas's acting leaders and deputy head of the political bureau.
This is an area with a large Indian population, including Malayaleees. This is the first Israeli attack in Qatar. Five Hamas members, including Hayya's son Himam and the director of Hayya's office, Jihad Labad, and a member of the Qatari security forces were killed. Several people were injured. Hamas said that Khalil Hayya and other senior leaders escaped.
Israel's retaliation, dubbed 'Operation Summit of Fire', came after Hamas claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack in northern Jerusalem. About 15 Israeli warplanes were part of the mission. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz supervised the mission. On Monday, two gunmen shot and killed six people in Jerusalem.
