Tanker lorry runs over while fixing puncture, expat dies in Saudi

RIYADH: The body of a native of Tamil Nadu, who died in Hafar Al Batin in Saudi Arabia, was brought to his hometown and cremated. The dead is Sundaram Ramaswamy (59) of Namakkal in Tamil Nadu. He died in the accident that happened when the vehicle skidded off the jack while fixing puncture.

He had been running a puncture workshop in Hafar Al Batin for about 30 years. The accident occurred when the jack skidded and the vehicle ran over him while fixing a puncture on the tanker lorry. Sundaram, who was seriously injured, was immediately taken to the hospital but died. After a two-week police investigation and forensic examination, OICC President Bibin Mattam completed the legal procedures with the help of the Indian Embassy.


Friends Gopal and Chellappan received the body and brought it to Chennai on Indigo flight. From there, his relatives received the body and buried it in the house compound. He leaves behind his mother Pappai Ramaswamy, wife Gomathi Sundaram and children Malathi, Arun Kumar.
