Crane falls on running train in Thailand; 22 people killed, 30 injured

BANGKOK: In a tragic incident, 22 people were killed after a crane fell on a running train in Thailand. The train was running from Bangkok to the north eastern part of the country when the crane fell on top of one of its coaches. Construction work for a high-speed railway line was underway at the site when the train passed through. Police said 30 people were injured in the accident.

The accident occurred this morning in Nakhon Sikhio district, about 230 kilometres from Bangkok. The train was heading to Ubon Ratchathani province. Some media reports said the train derailed and caught fire after the crane collapsed onto it. Police said the fire has been brought under control and rescue operations are continuing.
