Hot air balloon catches fire mid-air in Mexico, two dead; shocking video out

MEXICO: Two people have died after a hot balloon caught fire near Mexico City on Saturday around 8.40 am. Three persons were seriously injured in the accident. The passengers jumped from the balloon as soon as it caught fire. According to a statement released by Mexico government, a child suffered severe burns.

A 30-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man died in the accident. One of the injured suffered severe burns on the face and had a fracture on the right femur. The video of the accident is circulating on social media and it shows the balloon's gondola on fire. The accident happened in a place visited by millions of tourists from all over the world every year.

A similar accident occurred in Texas, USA in 2016 and it led to the death of 16 people. It was then discovered that the hot air balloons were being flown without registration in Texas. In February 2013, 19 tourists were killed when a hot air balloon caught fire in Luxor, Egypt and plunged 1,000 feet to the ground.
