ISLAMADABAD: As the no-confidence motion in Pakistan Parliament is about to take place soon, the decision of three political allies to join Opposition has created a setback to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan (seven MPs), Pakistan Muslim League - Qaeda (five MPs) and Balochistan Awami Party (five MPs) are the parties that joined opposition.As the Pakistan parliament convenes tomorrow to consider the no-confidence motion, local media reports that this decision was an expected one. These three parties has 17 MPs in total, they plan to support no-confidence motion along with 24 rebel PTI MPs.
Four senior generals, including Imran's army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, have warned him to resign immediately after Islamic State leaders meet in Islamabad. The Supreme Court will today rule on a petition filed by the Imran government seeking clarification on the constitutional provision regarding disqualification of defectors. That is his only hope.
