'No Bollywood star would dare to do it'; actress Vidya Balan heaps praise on Mammootty

Vidya Balan, the Bollywood actress known for her memorable characters in many blockbusters is now on a mission watching Malayalam classics. Since getting married in 2012, the Kerala-born actress has wriggled away from the cine world but is an active presence on social media.

Most Instagram users are well aware of Vidya’s recent admiration for Malayalam movies, which she shows through her reels. In a recent interview, the actor talked more about the film 'Kathal' directed by Jeo Baby.

I love movies acted by Mammootty. Recently I saw ‘Kathal the Core’ and was in awe of the craft. Mammootty did a great job there. I also sent a message to Dulquer to convey this to Mammootty. Not only did Mammootty play the role, but he was also ready to produce the film. Only a great actor could do such type of character and inspire the pride community.

A Hindi actor would never accept a film like this. Kerala has a progressive audience. That is the main difference. An actor in Kerala never has to worry about his image. The audience in Kerala is broadminded and they have respect for every artist.

'Kathal' hit the theaters on November 23, 2023. This is the first time Jyothika has appeared in Mammootty's film. Kathal was also Jyothika's return to Malayalam after 12 years.
