Tovino Thomas reacted to the ban on the screening of the Basil Joseph-starrer Maranamass in Saudi Arabia and its censorship in Kuwait. As the producer of the film, he said that countries have their own rules, and it's not possible to change them. He mentioned that while Kuwait granted permission after some edits, the film remains banned in Saudi Arabia.

He shared his observations on Saudi Arabia, highlighting significant changes over the years. According to him, the Saudi Arabia he experienced in 2019 was very different from the one he saw in 2023, as the country is making its own amendments and should be given time. Reflecting on India, Tovino posed a question about whether the country has progressed or regressed in the past five or six years compared to 2019. "I have doubts about whether there has been progress or regression," he remarked.
