On the fifth day of its release, Empuraan has entered the 200-crore club globally, even as controversies continue to surround the film. The milestone was announced by Mohanlal on social media. He shared his joy by posting a special poster, saying the film has made history. Remarkably, Empuraan achieved this feat in just five days.
However, the new re-edited version of the film did not hit theatres as scheduled today. Reports suggest that technical issues have delayed its release, but the updated version will be available by tomorrow. Due to the controversy, three minutes of the movie were cut following a special meeting of the censor board, which took place despite it being a holiday. In addition to changes in 17 scenes, the villain's name will be altered, and some dialogues that couldn't be edited will now be muted.
Mohanlal expressed regret over the political controversy caused by the film. Director Prithviraj supported him by sharing Mohanlal's post online. However, scriptwriter Murali Gopi has remained silent about the controversy. Even though both Prithviraj and Antony Perumbavoor backed Mohanlal's statement by sharing it, Murali Gopi has yet to respond.
