Director Vinayan has explained about the issues he faced while censoring his film 'Yakshiyum Njanum'. He revealed how Ramesh Chennithala had helped him when a large section of Malayalam industry opposed him then. He said this in a recent interview.
'Chandrakumar, who was the censor officer during that time had called me and said that the film 'Yakshiyum Njanum' cannot be censored. When asked why, he said that he didn't want to do it for one person when the majority of Malayalam cinema was against it. It really shocked me. Kanam and Ramesh Chennithala saved me at that time. That's why I love them. After hearing about the incident, Ramesh Chennithala wanted to meet me in person. I was not close to him back then. After the talk, he directly called Sonia Gandhi's secretary Nair sir and even I spoke with him. I told him that I don't want to release my film by apologizing to anyone. After some time I got a call from the censor officer. He said that he received a call from Mumbai and was ready to censor the film. This was a great experience in life,' said Vinayan.
