Some actors work in countless movies but seldom create an impact while some appear in one film and leave an indelible mark in audience's minds. Amrita Prakash from ‘Manjupoloru Penkutti’ left the industry almost 20 years back but is yet to fade from most Malayali minds.

Most people still believe that Amrita is a Malayali but in reality, she is a Mumbaikar. After leaving Mollywood in 2004, Amrita made her way into Bollywood getting to play some interesting roles. And now after two decades, Amrita opened up about her mollywood experience in an interview with a popular YouTube channel.

Amrita Prakash:

“After ‘Manjupoloru Penkutti’ many roles came my way but I was too young to commit to movies and wanted badly to complete my studies. I was in 12th standard in 2004 and decided to move ahead with my studies. I missed Kerala and Malayalees so much. It is here I started my career with Popy umbrella advertisement.

I know how acclaimed now Malayalam industry is compared to the rest of India. I feel like making a comeback to the industry. Malayalam cinema has progressed a lot. Little did I know that I was the crush of boys in Kerala after that movie. There was no social media back then. I used to get tons of love letters from Malayalees back in 2004. I feel like getting married to a Malayali and settling in Kerala.”
