JAIPUR: A Class 10 student in Udaipur, Rajasthan, has died after being stabbed by a classmate. The incident occurred on Friday, August 16, at a government school in the Bhatiyani Chota area, following an argument between the two students. The victim, who was stabbed in the thigh, succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening while undergoing treatment.
The stabbing triggered communal tensions in Udaipur, leading to protests where mobs torched vehicles and vandalized shops. In response, the district administration temporarily suspended internet services in Udaipur and surrounding areas. Authorities have arrested the 15-year-old classmate responsible for the stabbing, along with his father. Additionally, the rented house where the accused and his family lived was demolished on Saturday due to encroachment on forest land.
In the wake of the student’s death, Udaipur Zone IG Ajay Pal Lamba has urged residents to maintain law and order. Meanwhile, the Congress party has criticized the handling of the victim's treatment, demanding a financial aid of at least Rs 50 lakh for the family and government jobs for the victim's relatives.
