19-year-old woman killed after being pushed off terrace by burqa-clad lover

NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old youngster was arrested in the death of a 19-year-old woman, who was pushed off her terrace the other day. Neha, a native of Ashok Nagar in Delhi died tragically in the incident. Taufiq, a native of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested in the incident.

Taufiq, who went into hiding after the incident, was arrested by the police the other day.

The incident took place on Monday. According to the police, Taufiq and Neha were in a relationship for a long time. However, recently, Taufiq agreed to another marriage which his family had found for him. The news reached Neha, and things started going south between them.

Meanwhile, Taufiq, on the last day, entered Neha’s house wearing a burqa and followed her to the terrace where she was checking the water tank. Neha’s father, alarmed over the long time she was taking to return from the terrace, went up to enquire. Upstairs, he saw both Taufiq and Neha having a bitter verbal feud.

When he intervened, the accused pushed Surendra away. Taufiq then pushed Neha with great force that she stumbled on the parapet and fell down from a considerable height. Surendra, shattered by what he saw, rushed down and took his daughter to the hospital. However, her life could not be saved.

The police received CCTV footage of Taufiq arriving at the house and leaving the house under mysterious circumstances. Neha had tied a rakhi on Taufiq's hand. Neha’s family were aware of their relationship and said that they had known Taufiq for three years as he used to frequent their house. The investigation into the incident is progressing.
