MUMBAI: BCCI has announced the distribution of Rs 125 crore to the Indian cricket team following their triumphant victory in the Twenty20 World Cup. Questions were raised including whether only those who played or Malayali player Sanju Samson who did not get a chance to play in the playing 11 would get the same amount. Each of the 15 squad members including Sanju Samson, Yashashvi Jaiswal and Yuzvendra Chahal, who did not make it to the playing 11, will receive Rs 5 crore. Head coach Rahul Dravid will also receive Rs 5 crore while batting coach Vikram Rathore, fielding coach T Dileep and bowling coach Paras Mambre will each receive Rs 2.5 crore.
The five members of the selection committee, headed by Ajit Agarkar, will receive Rs 1 crore each. Physiotherapists Kamlesh Jain, Yogesh Parmar, Tulasi Ram Yuvraj, throw down specialists Raghavendra DVG, Nuwan Udeneke, Dayanand Garani, masseurs Rajeev Kumar and Arun Kanade, and strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai will each receive Rs 2 crore. Reserve players Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Josh Khan and Khalil Ahmed will each receive Rs 1 crore.
Additionally, the team’s video analyst, media officer and logistics manager will receive a portion of the prize money. In addition to the BCCI’s prize money, the Maharashtra government announced an additional Rs 11 crore reward for the Indian team. This follows the precedent set in 2013 when all team members received Rs 1 crore each after their World Cup win.
