COIMBATORE: A corporation contract employee was injured after being bitten by a horse. The incident happened at Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The injured has been identified as Jayabal. CCTV footage has emerged of two horses galloping along the road and hitting Jayabal, who was on a two-wheeler. This is the second such incident in the area in the last five months.

The incident happened last evening at Nehru Nagar in Kasthurinaickenplayam. This is a residential area. The horse galloping along the road hit Jayabal at a turning. Jayabal, who was bitten on his left hand, was admitted to a nearby hospital. He was shifted to a government hospital as the injection was expensive. Jayabal’s family demanded the government to bear the medical expenses.

Horses are roaming around Coimbatore like stray dogs in Kerala. Their attacks have been increasing in the last few months. There are differences of opinion between the corporation and animal lovers on the issue. The corporation officials informed that the horses will be seized and the owners will be summoned and an explanation will be sought and also a fine will be imposed.

Locals complain that the corporation is taking the incident very lightly. They said that the horse attacks are a regular occurrence in a situation where people are struggling by the menace of stray dogs. Health experts also said that the health issues caused by horse attacks are very serious.
