Indore native, who is married to Chinese woman, detained over suspected links to Mumbai terror attack

BHOPAL: An Indore native, who is married to a Chinese woman, is in police custody for suspected links to the terrorist attack in Mumbai. The arrested Sarfaraz is suspected to have links with Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and various terrorist organizations.

The NIA had recently received a tip-off that a man named Sarfaraz was planning to carry out terror attacks in Mumbai. The NIA and Mumbai Police then handed over the information about Sarfaraz to the Madhya Pradesh Police. The NIA received a tip-off about a person who speaks different languages, which was shared with the Mumbai police. As per the sources, the person also had an immigration stamp on the passport proving that he had traveled to China. Sarfaraz was taken into custody during a subsequent investigation.

Sarfaraz lived in China from 2005 to 2018. There are also reports that he was in Hong Kong for some time. He is married to a Chinese woman, who has filed for a divorce.

Meanwhile, Sarfaraz says that the allegations against him were fabricated by his wife in connection with the divorce. Sarfraz told the police that there is an ongoing dispute with his wife and he was even indulged in a fight with his wife's lawyer. He alleged that the email regarding the terrorist attack was sent by them in order to frame him.
