NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old man has been arrested from Palam Village for using AI technology to morph pictures of a college student and circulate them on social media through fake profiles. The accused was arrested by the Delhi South West Cyber Police.
The woman had filed a complaint on June 16 alleging that fake social media profiles were created in her name and that defamatory and insulting captions were given in them. The man morphed the woman’s photos into sexually explicit images and uploaded them online through various fake accounts. The 21-year-old was caught by the police after a weeks-long investigation. The police have not revealed any details about the accused.
The accused also sent follow requests to the woman's friends using the fake social media profile. The police said that the man's move was aimed at deliberately defaming and insulting the woman.
The police arrested the accused through continuous surveillance. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. The police said that his phone has been seized and sent to the forensic lab for detailed examination. A case has been registered under Sections 78 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
