Massive explosion at police station in Jammu and Kashmir; death toll rises to nine

SRINAGAR: Another blast shocks the country. An explosion took place at the Nowgam police station in Jammu and Kashmir. The death toll due to the blast of explosives has risen to nine and 29 people were injured. Many of them are in critical condition. There are indications that Jammu and Kashmir State Investigation Agency (SIA) officials were present at the police station during the incident. Police and forensic officials were also present at the spot. Officials indicated that the death toll is likely to rise.

The massive explosion took place on Friday night. Explosives seized from those arrested for their terror links in Faridabad were stored here at this police station. The blast occurred while forensic and police officials were examining the explosives. The station and vehicles were gutted. Nearby houses were also damaged.
