NEW DELHI: The CISF has revealed that Pakistan had carried out an attack targeting the Uri hydropower plant near the Line of Control (LOC) within hours after India launched Operation Sindoor. The CISF said the attack was successfully foiled and no damage was reported. The force disclosed this while presenting awards to the 19 CISF personnel who were on duty at the Uri power station that day.
According to the CISF, Pakistan had launched drone attacks aimed at the Uri hydropower plant and nearby civilian areas. The CISF said its personnel effectively countered the attacks and neutralised the drones. During the exchange of fire, civilians were safely evacuated from residential areas, the force added.
On May 6 and 7, 2025, the Indian Army destroyed terrorist camps in Pakistan under an operation named Operation Sindoor. The mission was carried out in response to the attack by Pakistan-based terrorists on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan launched the Uri attack on the same night Operation Sindoor began, but the security personnel on duty managed to successfully repel it. On Tuesday, the 19 officers who were involved in the operation were honoured with awards at a ceremony held at the CISF headquarters in New Delhi.
