Popular serial actress Chaitra kidnapped by criminal gang; probe ongoing

BENGALURU: A Complaint surfaced alleging that film serial star Chaitra was kidnapped. It is alleged that Chaitra was kidnapped by a criminal gang on the instructions of her husband and producer Harshavardhan. Chaitra’s sister filed a missing persons complaint with the police.

Chaitra and Harshavardhan got married in 2023. The two had been estranged for the past eight months. The actress was living in a rented house on Magadi Road with her one-year-old daughter. Chaitra is very popular for her roles in television serials.

Chaitra had told her family that she was going to Mysore on the 7th of this month for a shoot. The complaint alleges Harshavardhan to be behind the abduction.

Harshavardhan had given Rs 20,000 as an advance to his assistant Kaushik, to kidnap Chaitra. Then Kaushik, with the help of another accomplice, called Chaitra to the Mysore Road Metro station. When the actress arrived there, they forcibly put her in a car and took her away.

Harshavardhan then called Chaitra's mother and revealed his role in Chaitra’s missing. Harshavardhan demanded that his mother-in-law bring his child to a specific location if they wanted Chaitra back. With this, the family filed a complaint with the police. The police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
