AHMEDABAD: Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered their third loss of the IPL season, going down to Gujarat Titans by four wickets. Chasing a target of 156, Gujarat reached 156/6 in 15.5 overs.
Gujarat got off to a strong start through captain Shubman Gill (43 off 18) and Jos Buttler (39 off 19). Though RCB fought back in the middle overs and took wickets at regular intervals, Rahul Tewatia (27* off 17) and Rashid Khan (7* off 6) calmly guided Gujarat to victory.
Earlier, RCB were bowled out for 155 in 19.2 overs after a batting collapse. They were well placed at 79/2 but lost momentum quickly. Devdutt Padikkal top-scored with 40 off 24. Virat Kohli made 28 off 13, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to contribute significantly.
For Gujarat, Arshad Khan took three wickets, while Rashid Khan and Jason Holder picked up two each. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the standout bowler for RCB with three wickets.
