SRINAGAR: The harrowing accounts of the Pahalgam attack and those who lost loved ones are emerging. The gunmen in military uniforms opened fire on a group of tourists, asking them what their names were and what their religion was, a woman told police. A woman has been seen crying as she recounts the incident in which her husband was shot dead while they were eating bhelpuri. She got married to her husband barely a week ago. "My husband was shot in the head. The gunman said my husband was not a Muslim and then shot him," she says in shock.
In a video from the scene, a woman can be seen crying and begging for help. "Please save my husband," she screams, as her husband lies shot nearby.
The attack took place at 2.30 pm on Tuesday. It is reported that there were three attackers. Locals are also among the injured. Jammu and Kashmir Police said that the firing took place in the Baisaran valley of Pahalgam. This area cannot be reached by vehicle. It is reached only by foot or horse through a difficult path.
