
AHMEDABAD: An IndiGo flight from Kuwait to Delhi was diverted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad following a bomb threat. The incident took place this morning. The action was taken after a threat message was found written on a piece of tissue paper inside the aircraft.
There were 180 passengers on board the flight. The plane landed safely in Ahmedabad at 6.40 am. The note was found by a passenger on board. He immediately informed the flight crew. The pilot then informed the air traffic control and decided to divert the flight to Ahmedabad. All the passengers were safely evacuated as soon as the plane landed. Security personnel and the bomb detection squad then conducted a detailed search of the plane.
No suspicious items were found on the plane during the inspection. Airport authorities said that the flight will continue after security checks are completed and final approval is received.
A similar incident was reported on January 18. An IndiGo flight (6E-6650) from Delhi to Bagdogra was diverted to Lucknow after a handwritten note on a tissue paper stating "Plane mein bomb" (Bomb in the plane) was found in the lavatory. The flight landed safely, all 230 passengers were evacuated, and no explosive was found after an extensive search.
