NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has published a list of 22 unrecognised universities in the country on its website. The list includes two institutions from Kerala. They are the International Islamic University of Prophetic Medicine (IIUPM) in Kundamangalam in Kozhikode district and St. John's University, Kishanattam.

Students are warned not to take admission in these institutions as they are not following the norms of the UGC Act, 1956. Delhi has the highest number of unrecognised universities - 10. Four unrecognised universities have been found in Uttar Pradesh, two each in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. One each in Maharashtra and Puducherry.
