THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vanchiyoor Court has remanded senior lawyer Bailin Das in the case of brutally assaulting his junior. He has been remanded till May 27th. Meantime, the magistrate court will pronounce the verdict on his bail plea tomorrow after hearing the detailed arguments.

The prosecution strongly opposed his bail plea. Assaulting his junior at work place is a serious crime. Women's safety at workplace is widely discussed in Kerala. It is in this context that such an incident has happened from a senior lawyer. It is not an excusable crime for a junior lawyer to face such an act from a person who is to protect and teach new lessons. The prosecution argued that bail should not be granted in this situation. However, the defense informed the court that it was not a deliberate attempt to abuse or assault the woman.

Bailin brutally assaulted Shyamili on Tuesday. When the incident stoked a controversy, Bailin went into hiding. The police were under great pressure to arrest the accused. Bailin Das' wife was asked to appear in the station yesterday. The mobile phones of the lawyer's relatives were also examined. Bailin was arrested last evening. The police took him into custody yesterday at a time when the court was to consider his anticipatory bail plea today.
