Death of Instagram influencer: She was sexually abused several times, says police

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police say that Binoy, a native of Nedumangad's Uzhamalaykkal, who was arrested in connection with the suicide of an Instagram influencer here has sexually abused the deceased girl several times. According to the remand report submitted by Poojappura police in Vanchiyoor Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, the girl was abused about five times. In addition to POCSO Act, the accused was also charged with abortion under IPC 312. He was remanded for 14 days. The Poojapura police said that the custody application will be submitted to the court soon.

Binoy and the girl, who met through Instagram, were in love for two years. The girl was abused when she was 17 years old. The police say that she was taken to different places in the district and abused. WhatsApp chats between them were also found.

The girl ended her relationship with Binoy two months ago. The girl told her parents that Binoy had cheated her. After the relationship ended, Binoy's fans hurled abuse at the girl on social media. In a WhatsApp message sent to her mother on the eve of the suicide, the girl did not say anything other than that she wanted to move house. The girl locked herself in the room and ate only cola and chocolate.

In the suicide note found in the room, it is said that no one is resposible for her death and that she don't want live in this world. The police said that the note tells Binoy to be happy and that she cannot lose anymore. The girl was taking medication for mental problems for two months.

The police are also probing the allegation of Binoy's friends threatening the girl over the phone. The threat was to post a video on Instagram stating that there is no problem with the Binoy and that they are still friends.
