Is this your password? Kerala Police issues guidelines to avoid falling victim to cyber fraud

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Police took to Facebook to warn the public of increasing cyber frauds. The post mentions that virtual arrests and hacking attempts are on the rise. It adds that people can avoid falling prey to such frauds by being cautious. The post lists the following tips to avoid cyber fraud:

- Never use your mobile number as a password.
- Use a strong password with a mix of letters (A to Z & a to z), special characters (!, @, #, $, %, ^, &, *, ?, >, <), and numbers (0-9). It should have at least 8 characters.
- Log in to your account only on trusted devices.
- Remove your account from third-party apps.
- Don't give access to untrusted third-party apps.
- Enable two-step verification for Google accounts to secure them.
- If your account is hacked, check your email immediately. You may receive an alert message from your email service provider. Follow the instructions in the message and take action.
