PALAKKAD: There is mystery in finding the havildars of the Kerala Armed Police (KAP) Second Battalion camp, lying dead in the field at Muttikkulangara. The two dead were identified as Ashok Kumar from (35) from Elavanchery and Mohandas (36) from Athipotta, Kavassery.

There is a motor shed a short distance away from the place where the bodies were lying. The dog of the dog squad sniffed and ran to the motor shed. It has to be found why the dog sniffed and ran there. A mobile phone of one of the dead was recovered from the spot. A red umbrella was also obtained from the spot.

The police suspect that they may have electrocuted from an electric fence installed to trap wild boars. Two natives of the area have been taken into custody. Those in custody told police that the electric fence was installed to chase pigs. As there were no other injuries in their bodies, the possibility of poisoning will also be examined.

The two cops were missing from the camp since Wednesday night. It is not clear how they managed to jump the high wall behind the camp. The two were suspected to have gone fishing in the canal near the fields.
