Drunken man slaps Gandhi statue, shouts expletives; taken into police custody

PUNALUR: A man was taken into police custody after he misbehaved at a Mahatma Gandhi statue while under the influence of alcohol in Punalur, Kollam district. The incident was captured on video, which later surfaced on social media. The footage shows the drunken man climbing onto the statue, shouting expletives, and slapping it on the face. The accused has been identified as Harilal, a local resident. According to reports, he also created disturbances at nearby shops in the area.

Locals said Harilal is a habitual troublemaker. Police intervened soon after the incident and took him into custody for further action.
