Man, accused of dragging dog behind bike, arrested in Malappuram

MALAPPURAM: A man accused of dragging a dog behind his bike here has been arrested. The arrested has been identified as Abdul Karim, a native of Malappuram's Pookkottumanna. The footage of the dog being dragged along Chunkathara Pookottummanna Road surfaced on the internet on Tuesday. The incident happened around 11:30 on Monday night.

A case was registered under IPC 429. This is a crime punishable by up to four years in prison. The dog was found dead and procedures including post-mortem are in progress. The registration number of the bike was clear in the footage.

Meanwhile, in the video released yesterday, the accused can be heard saying that it is a dead dog and that he is taking it to dispose of. But the man recording the video can be heard saying that the dog was dragged for kilometres before it died.
