SI arrested for allegedly stealing earthmover from police station

MUKKAM (Kozhikode): Crime Detachment DYSP P Pramod probing the case of stealing a JCB from Mukkam police station has arrested the suspended SI TT Naushad. He was arrested following a report submitted by the investigation team to the District Sessions Court, which found Naushad guilty based on the evidence.

The statements of the policemen who were on duty on the day when the JCB was taken from the station and the accused who were released on bail were recorded. Basheer, the main accused in the case, was earlier granted anticipatory bail. Basheer was absconding when the other six accused surrendered to the Mukkam police. On September 19, the JCB which killed one person at Kodiyathur's Puthiyanidath was taken out of the station by the owner's son and his team with the knowledge of the SI.

JCB had no insurance at the time of the accident. JCB owner's son Koombara Mathalikunnel Martin (32), KR Jayesh Keezhpalli (32), Dileep Kumar (49) from Ponnankayam, Velankanni Raja (55) from Tamil Nadu, Rajish Mathew (39) from Kallurutti and Mohanraj (40) were arrested.
