Uncle sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life for sexually abusing 17-year-old girl

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A court has sentenced a man to rigorous imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs 1,50,000 for sexually abusing and impregnating a 17-year-old girl. It was POCSO court judge MP Shibu who gave a life sentence to the accused.

The 47-year-old accused is the husband of the sister of the girl's mother. Her father abandoned her at a young age. Her mother is working abroad. The accused had taken the girl to his home after saying that he will send her for tuition. He sexually abused the girl when his wife was not in the house. The girl, who became pregnant, later gave birth to a baby. Following this, the girl's mother lodged a complaint with the police.​ The police then booked him under sections of the POCSO Act.
