KOCHI: In a shocking case of domestic violence, a woman from Angamaly in Ernakulam was brutally tortured by her husband following the birth of their child. The man allegedly assaulted her because she gave birth to a baby girl. The brutal torture began less than a month after the delivery. Reports suggest that the husband is deeply superstitious. The survivor has stated that she intends to take legal action against him.

According to the police, a case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the woman and her family, and an investigation is underway. The couple got married in 2020, and their child was born a year later. In her statement, the woman said her husband began torturing her while she was still recovering after childbirth, solely because the baby was a girl. She alleged that he pulled her off the bed and slammed her head against the wall during one of the assaults.

The woman also revealed that her husband prohibited her from contacting her family, and broke multiple mobile phones given to her so she could not contact them. In her complaint, she further stated that he had repeatedly beaten her with sticks and an iron rod. The abuse allegedly extended to their infant daughter as well.

On one occasion, after she suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital, the husband reportedly lied to medical staff, claiming she had suffered a seizure.
