Youth hacks girlfriend and father for rejecting marriage proposal

PALAKKAD: A youth barged into his girlfriend's house and hacked her and her father for rejecting his marriage proposal. The shocking incident took place in Nenmara, Palakkad. Melarcode native Gireesh, who carried out the attack, was arrested by the police. According to the police, Gireesh had been in a relationship with the woman for nearly four years. The woman went abroad for work a year and a half ago. The attack took place while the woman returned home on leave.

On learning about her return, Gireesh made repeated attempts to meet her and pressured her to marry him. When both the woman and her father refused, he resorted to violence.

Police said Gireesh, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, barged into the woman’s house and stormed into her bedroom, where he attacked her with a knife. She suffered stab injuries to her hand and back. When her father tried to intervene, he too was hacked by the accused.

The woman was stabbed on the hand and the back. Both the woman and her father are undergoing treatment at the hospital. The accused, who attempted to go into hiding, was arrested and later remanded.
