THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dr Haris Chirakkal said that he didn’t even think that his colleagues would stab him in the back. He said that they were provoked by him speaking to the media and that those who spoke to him after discussing things and said that there was nothing wrong, convened the press meet.

His words, ‘This kind of activity is not right. Their cooperation is still needed to take this sector forward. They could have asked me a word directly over the phone or through someone. They did not seek it. Me talking to the media would have provoked them. I don’t know why they are doing this. They could have asked me while searching my room. The doctors who spoke to me after discussing things and said that there was nothing wrong convened the press meet.’

He also hinted that the problem against him may have arisen because he openly revealed the problems in the system. Dr Haris had earlier written openly in the social media group of the Kerala Government Medical College Teachers Association (KGMCTA). Dr Haris said some colleagues tried to prompt him take the drastic step of suicide and let time forgive them and also alleged that even when Kerala stood by him, some colleagues tried to put him behind the bars. ‘There was an eagerness to send a colleague to jail. There are some who tried to bring a colleague to death for silver coins. When spoke for the common man, the world stood by him, but some doctors acted contrary to their oath.'

Meanwhile, dissatisfaction is rising against the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Principal, Superintendent, and the DME who gave instructions to them, for convening the press meet against Dr Haris. They have been removed from the WhatsApp group of the Kerala Government Medical College Teachers Association's Thiruvananthapuram unit. The group was instructed that those with administrative responsibilities should not remain in the group and that those who have been transferred from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College should also leave the group.
