
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rahul Mamkootathil MLA’s friend Joby Joseph has filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Thiruvananthapuram district sessions court. Joby is the second accused in the first sexual abuse against the MLA. The woman had stated that the pills for abortion was brought on the directions of Rahul. However, Joby responded that the pills were given as demanded by the woman and that he has no knowledge about the medicine. He is presently on the run fearing arrest. The case will be considered again on December 17.
The court had the other day granted anticipatory bail to the MLA in the second sexual abuse case. A Malayali woman of Bengaluru in her complaint said that she was taken to the homestay and raped. The court granted him bail on conditions that he has to appear before the investigating officer on all alternate Mondays for the next three months. Apart from this, he should appear before the investigation team whenever demanded. He has also been directed not to influence witnesses. District Sessions Judge S Nazeera issued an order granting anticipatory bail to Rahul. The prosecution will appeal against this in the high court today.
The high court had stayed his arrest in the first case against Rahul Mamkootathil. The second case was registered while the hearing in this case was going on. The email complaint received by KPCC was forwarded to the police. The complainant had given her statement in the case. The statement was recorded by SP Poonkuzhali. Her statement is that she was raped despite pleading to leave her alone. She said that she was threatened several times and that she did not come out due to fear.
