KOZHIKODE: While the world is discussing the birth of a child to a transgender couple, the next hurdle they face is that who will be the father and mother of the child in the records. Today, Ziya will submit an application to the Health Minister and the Superintendent of the Institute of Maternal and Child Health in medical college to add Zahad, who gave birth to the baby, as the father and herself as the mother.

“We have transgender ID card issued by the central government. Here the man is Zahad and I am the woman. Although Zahad gave birth to the baby, he should be the father. That is our desire. Just like the fight for survival, we will knock every door for it. If needed we will fight legally.” Ziya told Kerala Kaumudi.

“We are happy that the baby is born. When I went to give sweets, the first thing I requested to the superintendent of the medical college is to add Zahad as the father in the records. I believe that the hospital authorities and health minister will support us in this matter as well.”, said Ziya.

Zahad, who was born as a woman and lived as a man, and Ziya, who was born as a man and lived as a woman, was blessed with a baby girl at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital on Wednesday morning. Despite being on the transgender list, neither of them had fully undergone the biological transition. They started living together
