17 Sabarimala pilgrims sustain injuries in bus-van collision in Thrissur

THRISSUR: 17 people sustained injuries after a bus carrying Sabarimala pilgrims collided with a pickup van. The incident happened at Pannithadam on the Kecheri-Akkikkavu bypass in Thrissur. Both the vehicles overturned immediately after the collision. The passengers of the bus sustained injuries. They were admitted to a hospital in Kunnamkulam. No one was seriously injured.


The accident happened this morning at 5.10 am today. The bus coming from the bypass collided with a pickup van coming along the Vadakkancherry-Chavakkad state highway. The Erumapety police and the Kunnamkulam fire brigade jointly removed the injured vehicles. The oil spilled on the road was cleaned and traffic was restored. People in the area say that accidents happen here every day despite the installation of signals after the bypass was renovated.
