KASARAGOD: School students admitted to hospital after inhaling smoke from generator. The incident took place in Kanhangad, Kasargod. 38 children were admitted to the hospital after inhaling smoke from the generator installed at the Kanhangad Women and Children's Hospital near the school. The students of Little Flower Girls Higher Secondary School suffered from smoke inhalation.

After inhaling the smoke, the students felt dizzy and short of breath. Of the 38 students admitted to the hospital, 20 children were released after initial treatment. Of the remaining 18, five are under observation in the district hospital and 13 in a private hospital. They have been admitted under observation because of a change in their oxygen levels. No one is in serious condition.

The hospital's generator was installed near the children's classroom. After the incident, Sub Collector Sufian Ahmed reached the spot to assess the situation. It is estimated that the height of the smoke pipe of the generator is the reason for the smoke to spread to the school. The collector ordered an inquiry into the incident. The technical team gave a preliminary report to the DMO that the children fell ill due to inhaling fumes from the generator.
