KOZHIKODE: The family of Arjun, who tragically lost his life in the landslide at Shirur, has raised serious concerns about the investigation. According to the family, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) from the medical college, who is overseeing the case, has been closely examining the YouTube channel and comments of Manaf, the lorry owner. The ACP stated that action would be taken against Manaf if he is found guilty. However, if there is no evidence against him, he will be removed from the FIR.
Manaf's name was originally included in the FIR based on the family's initial complaint. In addition to this, Arjun's family has filed a complaint regarding a cyberattack they claim to have faced. In response, the police have registered a case against Manaf and those responsible for spreading harmful content on social media, accusing them of attempting to incite communal tensions. The authorities will be scrutinizing various social media pages as part of the investigation.
The family’s statement is expected to be recorded today. The police have promised to take strict action in the matter. Yesterday, Arjun's wife, Krishna Priya, his sister Anju and brother-in-law Jithin filed a formal complaint with the City Police Commissioner, highlighting the communal abuse being directed at them on social media.
Earlier, during a press conference on Wednesday, the family alleged that Manaf was manipulating their emotions for personal gain. Following these allegations, there was a surge of online attacks targeting Arjun's family. In response to the accusations, Manaf released a statement denying any exploitation of the situation.
