THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ADGP M R Ajith Kumar has withdrawn his leave application after the massive reshuffle in the Malappuram police. The home department had the other day granted him leave on the application given a few days ago citing personal reasons. He had sought leave from September 14 to 17. He has now given an application to withdraw the leave.
Ajith Kumar applied for leave to go to Chennai with his family. P V Anwar MLA had alleged that Ajith Kumar was taking leave to destroy evidence and meet some other people. Officials including Malappuram SP were transferred yesterday. It is also indicated that Ajith Kumar withdrew his leave application after knowing that there is no change for him following the mass action in Malappuram.
There was a major reshuffle in Malappuram Police facing allegations of gold theft, quoting and gang-rape. P V Anwar had demanded the chief minister to transfer the accused police officers. The action is being taken while the LDF meeting is scheduled to take place today.
Malappuram district police chief S Sasidharan has been transferred to Vigilance Ernakulam range. Instead, AIG-1 R Viswanath of the police headquarters was made the district police chief. SP Sujith Das was transferred to Pathanamthitta following the allegations.
Malappuram Crime Branch SP Vikram has been transferred to excise. Excise Vigilance Officer K V Santhosh has been made SP of Malappuram Crime Branch. Eight deputy superintendents of Malappuram were transferred. Tanur DySP V V Benny investigating the Muttil tree-cutting case has also been transferred.
