Fire breaks out in plastic waste treatment plant in Malappuram; Black smoke spreads panic

MALAPPURAM: A fire broke out at a plastic waste treatment plant. The incident happened at around 2.30 pm today on the Malappuram Myladi Vellore Road. The fire force team reached the spot and is trying to douse the flames. Fire force officials said that about 90 percent of the fire is under control.


The fire broke out in the plastic piled up outside the waste treatment plant. An electric line had passed over the waste. The fire started from this electric line. The fire spread to the coconut leaves nearby. The burnt leaves fell on top of the waste, spreading the fire.


Two fire force teams from Malappuram have reached the spot and are trying to douse the flames. There is still a lot of smoke in the area. There are residential houses nearby. They said that they came to know about the fire at the spot after smell of burning plastic.
